Troubleshooting
IE Browser
If you get the "IE cannot display the webpage" error, wait for about 20 seconds then press Refresh button.
If login fails,
try: http://127.0.0.1:8600/KNB2/verifyAccessDB.cfm.
If you get "a rapidly vibrating error message" when loading some page, take the following steps to fix your IE configuration problem:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on Tools, then on Internet Options.
3. Click on the Advanced tab.
4. Look for the "Disable script debugging" line and put a check mark in the box.
5. Now look for the "Display a notification about every script error" line and remove the
check mark in the box.
6. Click on the OK button.
Firefox Browser
If you receive error messages such as "Connection Failed" or "Offline Mode" depending on your Firefox configuration, go to File Menu
-> Work Offline (check it off) and try it again.

Knowledge NoteBook Software Architecture:
1. Web server + Web Programming Engine.
The web server is Resin and the web programming engine is called Railo
from Railo Technologies in Switzerland. Both are open source.
2. Data Storage: Microsoft Access.
3. Knowledge NoteBook Application Core is written in Cold Fusion Language. (1MB)
-
The above info is just FYI, you do not need to know for using the program...
- Knowledge NoteBook comes with an MS Access database
(you don't need a copy of Access installed already).
- The program's starting point is URL: http://127.0.0.1:8600/knb2/
Maybe, at some point, the url of http://127.0.0.1:8600/knb2/index1984.cfm
would be useful such as when the url of http://127.0.0.1:8600/knb2/
produces a blank page.
- Important: if your browser including Firefox complains about
"Connection Failed" or "Offline Mode", go to File -> Work Offline (check it off) and try it again.
- 127.0.0.1 denotes your own computer and that tells you can use this app
without even connected to the Internet but you may want to connect to the net
to utilize some wonderful online resources such as wikipedia interactively with notes later on while using this app.
- Important: functionality/featueres would be incrementally rendered/provided, that is, the more you use the app the more functionality it would present themselves.
And that's the reason why you don't see a lot of buttons upfront. Why's that? For Clarity and Less Distraction.
- Updates/app enhancements would be provided at least once a month.
We try to systematically collect and analyze user feedback and incorporate them into future release accordingly.

Online / Offline
When prompted with choice of [Work Offline] and [Try Again] select the latter.
Browser
The IE browser and Firefox browser has some differences in execution and rendering of
web content. The Knowledge NoteBook currently supports both IE and Firefox. Primarily IE.
It is highly recommended that you have both installed on your computer.
1. Cache
Set cache to "Every time I visit the webpage" for IE.
Here's how to do it:
(a) Tools
(b) Internet Options
(c) General -> Settings (Browsing History section)
(d) Check "Every time I visit the webpage"
(e) Click OK
2. Notes Display
With Firefox the entire content of a note is fully displayed. It
is not by design of the application. But if you prefer this way
of complete content view all at once then use Firefox for it.
3. Drawing
This functionality is only available via Firefox browser.
Known Bugs
1. Calendar
Data validation, that is, the validation for start and stop seems buggy.
Considering the popularity of iPhone and smartPhone we do not think the
calenlar feature of this app is that important to you.
2. The MORE function does not work well with Firefox.
Uninstall the Knowledge NoteBook
Go to C:\Program Files\Railo folder,
Click on railo-uninstall.exe file to start the uninstallation process.
If you have written quite a lot of notes already, go to C:\Program Files\Railo folder,
copy or move the myTA917dbX.mdb Access database to a flash drive or somewhere else
prior to un-installation. That database contains all your notes.
